Questions and answers
What is DuoNavigator?
A dual-pane file manager for macOS. You browse two folders side by side and copy, move, rename, compress and inspect files mostly from the keyboard.
Can DuoNavigator overwrite my files by accident?
No operation replaces an existing item on its own. When a name already exists, you choose what happens. If you choose Replace, the old item goes to the Trash.
Can I permanently delete files?
No. DuoNavigator always moves items to the Trash. Empty the Trash in Finder when you are sure.
Does it connect to the internet or collect data?
It connects only for Ask, after you turn it on, and when you send a bug report or feature request. It has no accounts, telemetry or automatic updates, and never sends file contents, except images you add to a report yourself.
How do I update?
Download the new version from this site and replace the app in Applications. Your settings are kept.
Why does macOS ask for access to Desktop or Documents?
macOS protects these folders and asks once per app. See the permissions guide for details.
Can it open archives other than ZIP?
Not at the moment. Other archive types open in their default app.
Can it connect to FTP, SFTP or cloud servers?
No. DuoNavigator works with local disks and with volumes already mounted in macOS.
