macOS permissions

DuoNavigator asks only for the access macOS requires to show the folders you open.

Your home folder

Browsing your home folder needs no special permission. Full Disk Access is never required to start the app.

Desktop, Documents, Downloads and external volumes

The first time you open Desktop, Documents, Downloads, a removable volume or a network volume, macOS asks whether DuoNavigator may access it. If you decline, that folder can’t be listed, and DuoNavigator explains this and offers to open System Settings.

Change a permission later

  1. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Files and Folders.
  2. Find DuoNavigator and turn on the folders you want it to access.
  3. For other apps’ protected data, you can grant Full Disk Access in the same section. This is optional.

What DuoNavigator never does

It never changes permissions or privacy settings by itself and never runs anything as root.
